trim or remove matting (fur tangles)? electric ones will probably make your cat scared. scissors are dangerous -- one wriggle from your cat and you or the cat could end up stabbed or cut. can you take him or her to a professional groomer? there are cat groomers around, providing your cat is up to date on vaccinations they will do a good job and take out tangles with a very quiet electric razor. plus they have a lot of experience doing this.

  1. ok people its more common than you realize to clip a cat with electric trimmers like for dogs. They sell them for pets. I bought one from walmart for dogs but use on my 1 cat that has super long hair that gets matted and on his bottom tends to collect some unwanted stuff from time to time from kitty box if you know what I mean lol. However you need to make sure the temperament of your cat coincides with your cats willingness to allow you to do this. My cat is one that allows me to do just about anything to him so I can do this with out help. However depending on your cat Id advise a groomer or help and where gloves after clipping nails. There are many tips on how to do this online. Like getting cat use to sound of clippers then the feel of it vibrating on skin without clipping etc. Theres even a bag type item you put cat in that keeps paws zipped in with head thru whole to allow you to do what you need with control on what part of body is free or exposed. I hope this helped.
