You could use human clippers, or even the dog ones in Walmart.
BUT...in my experience, I get alot of people who call me because they got a set of cheapy clippers and tried to do their own dog and either the clippers totally died on them, or it wasn't powerful enough to get through the coat, and want me to fix the job
. If you just use the blade that is on the clipper, it will be really short. They come with comb attachments, but the dog has to be totally combed out before hand or the attachment will not go through the coat and get caught up.
I would recommend getting a good pair of Oster, Wahl or Andis clippers from Petsmart or a catalog and get the detachable blades for them. They will last alot longer.
