well they all go in 1/8th of an inch sizes, so #1 is 1/8, #2 is 1/4, #3 is 3/8, #4 is 1/2 in and so on...

Well it looks different by the thinkness of the hair.A three sometimes looks like a two on thinner hair.I would try the three on the sides first .They can show you a test spot at the salon.The barber can start with the larger of the blades and show you.the blades do have length numbers on them but the apperance is different depending on the thickness and color of the hair.
