Cleaning Electric Dog Clippers?

How do I clean my dog's electric clipper? There's little Yorkie hair all inside the blade and in little nooks and crannies in the electric clippers. I know I'm not suppose to dip the whole clipper in water and wiping it with a wet towel doesn't help get all the hair out. Can I unscrew the blade out? or will that mess up the whole clipper. I have an Andis Electric Pet Clipper.

Never use water to clean blades !!! You can get Cool Lube to spray down the blade to cool it and that will also blow out some hair. I use a toothbrush also.

If you really need to clean the blade you can carefully slide it apart and blow out the hair with a cool blow dryer or the tooth brush. Don't slide it all the way apart, unless you have to, it can be tricky to get it back together without damage.

You can buy blade cleaner for a really dirty blade, to disinfect it and strip all the old oil off. After it's clean add a drop of oil to the slide area and run it to lube the blade back up.

Google the Andis site and it should have more info. on trimmer and blade upkeep.

yes and also the back where you turn it on and off and you should get clipper oil to oil the parts and blade wash to get teh blades cleaned and lubricated.

Make sure you know how it came apart and put it back together correctly there are many little parts and screws to come out and be cleanned

I'm familiar with Oster clippers, but most likely...yours is the same. Try to find the owners manual that came with your clippers.

The blade on the back should come off. On an Oster, you pull and lift it off. If yours has a screw, carefully unscrew it. Use a small brush to dust off the blades and the top of the clipper.

Then replace the blade. You can get "blade wash" at the pet shop which you will run the tips of the clipper blades in while it is running.
